Professor Ana Flávia Nogueira (UNICAMP) is the new Director of CINE. Principal investigator of the Dense Energy Carriers division since the launch of CINE, in 2018, the scientist acted as Interim Director of the center in October and November this year. From this month, she starts to hold the office of Center Director.

Ana Flávia Nogueira substitutes in the office professor Rubens Maciel Filho, from UNICAMP’s Chemical Engineering College, who directed CINE since it was created. The vice-director remains Camila Brandão, who is the Manager of the Program of Research and Technology in New Energies at Shell.

Professor Ana Flávia has graduated in Chemistry by the São Paulo University (USP), and has a Master’s and a PhD in Chemistry by UNICAMP. She did her post-doctorate at Imperial College London(United Kingdom) and was visiting researcher at Stanford University (United States). She is a Professor at UNICAMP’s Chemistry Institute since 2004, where she founded and coordinates the Nanotechnology and Solar Energy Laboratory, a leading group in Latin America in research on emerging technologies for photovoltaic energy. Additionally, the scientist is a member of the advisory boards of three journals of the Royal Society of Chemistry (RSC): Journal of Materials Chemistry A, Journal of Materials Chemistry C e Materials Advances. She is also associate editor of the Journal of Photonics for Energy (SPIE) and the Journal of Physics: Energy (IOP).

As a researcher, the new director of CINE has acted in the development of functional materials and their application in the conversion of solar energy. She has experienced in the area of perovskite solar cells, quantum dots of perovskites and chalcogenides and functional oxides e nanocomposites with carbon materials for the production of dense energy carriers.  She has published around 150 scientific articles, seven book chapters and a book, and filled 3 patent applications to date.
